As I Stand by the Mirror

As I stand by the mirror
on the medicine cabinet
The rage builds within me.
In my mind I see
The blade,
ready for taking
I pick it up, shaking,
hold it in position
And slice.
Not once, but twice
I cut to watch
the blood flow.
But its only a show
of what would have
been real
If I had let myself feel
the pain
as I used to,
too long ago.
Behind the Purple Shadow

Behind the purple shadow
of dreams
I hear music and I hear
screams
Of others in the shadow
of life
Those afraid to pick up
the knife
We know the answer is
death
but we’re afraid to take our own
breath
We cannot live and we cannot
die,
Life for us is one big
lie.
So in the shadow we
remain
Eventually we get used to the
pain.
