As I Stand by the Mirror

As I stand by the mirror
on the medicine cabinet
The rage builds within me.
In my mind I see
The blade,
ready for taking
I pick it up, shaking,
hold it in position
And slice.
Not once, but twice
I cut to watch
the blood flow.
But its only a show
of what would have
been real
If I had let myself feel
the pain
as I used to,
too long ago.
