I first started cutting in 1983 and this period lasted about 14 years and then it stopped. The first time was a suicide attempt, but now I have found that I enjoy it, especially if I am depressed. Lately, I have the urge to cut deeper and deeper on my arms. I was ashamed at first, but now I realize this is just part of my life. Still, the medical/psychiatric community is treating me as a danger to myself. I also draw pictures of it with my pastels because I like the way it looks.
